Why Join a Fraternity?Only 3% of the American population since 1776 has been Greek. However, that 3% is the most powerful, influential, and successful group of individuals. Approximately 46% of the top executives of Fortune 500 companies are Greek, 48% of the 106th U.S. Congress, and all but two U.S. Presidents since 1825 have been Fraternity men. With all the fraternities available on college and university campuses today, finding the one that fits your personality and goals is essential. Fraternities produce leaders, scholars, graduates, gentlemen, and men of commitment.
Why Join TKE?
Tau Kappa Epsilon, the world's largest social fraternity, is a traditional values-based fraternity. Our cardinal principles are love, charity, and esteem, and these values can be seen in everything we do. New members of TKE are never hazed. Our new member period is a time to build brotherhood and learn about our rich traditions. TKE is also about leadership. TKE enables and encourages your leadership in campus and chapter activities, in addition to those in the community.

TKE membership requires attention to solid academic performance, good scholarship, and achievement. Personal success is acknowledged through awards, grants, and educational programs. $20,000 in scholarships are avilable each year to members of TKE. Approaching academics with discipline is a principle upheld by TKE men. A strong academic record not only prepares you for success after you get your degree, it represents your strength of mind and character to the world. TKE stress the importance of academic achievement. A successful college experience is the basis of the Greek system.
Many of the greatest leaders, business professionals, and entertainers are members of Tau Kappa Epsilon. You can learn more about some of our notable brothers including President Ronald Reagan and hotel magnate Conrad Hilton here.

Why choose TKE over other fraternities at Stephen F. Austin?
1. Size - When you are part of TKE, you are part of the largest college fraternity in the world. You will find your brothers in TKE at almost any school you visit and working in almost every major company. TKE is also the one of the few fraternities at SFA with a house (located 4mi from campus).
2. Tradition - Nu-Xi Chapter of TKE was chartered at SFA in 1971 by a TKE transfer student. We have enjoyed a long history of strength and tradition at Stephen F. Austin State University. Members of the Nu-Xi chapter have been active leaders in campus organizations including the Interfraternity Council, Student Government, the InterFraternal Council, and many leadership goups across campus. The Nu-Xi Chapter has always been active in intramural sports, and we haved earned championships in several sports over the years.
3. Alumni Support - Many of our alumni have gone on to achieve great success, and they continue to stay active and give back to the Nu-Xi chapter. In fact, a number of alumni have earned the title of Doctor by completing PhD or MD programs and Willie Nelson is a TKE from our very Chapter. We hold an annual Alumni Golf Tournament each Spring, with the proceeds benefiting an annual scholarship that pays Nu-Xi students directly. Nu-Xi alumni are professors, business and civic leaders, judges, entertainers, and national best-selling authors.

4. Education First - Many students are concerned that Greek life will have a negative impact on their academic performance. Academic success is priority for the members of TKE. We strive to be leaders and scholars in the classroom while still finding time to relax and enjoy brotherhood through social events or athletics.
5. No Hazing - Our pledge program promotes traditions, personal development, and brotherhood. We build men up - we don't tear them down. You may hear that from every fraternity, but we really mean it.
We look forward to hearing from you. Fill out our rush interest form and one of our Rush Chairmen will be in contact with you, and we will keep you informed of upcoming recruitment events.
