UPDATE: This event raised 1903 dollars for Texas Wildfire Relief and TKE's did over 3800 pushups! The San Angelo TKE's raised 900 dollars on their campus! Thank you everyone for your support.
In an effort to help those families tragically affected by the wildfires in central Texas and the Fire Departments working diligently to extinguish them, the gentlemen of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity from across the state of Texas have banded together. Several TKE Chapters will be collecting donations on multiple campuses across Texas on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 21st and 22nd.
Here's how it works:
For every 50 cents YOU donate, an active member of TKE will do one pushup! That means for every $5 we raise, we will do TEN Pushups! We will have a booth set up in the central area of campus by "Surfin' Steve" where you can come and get your money's worth! ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP! There will also be members posted up in front of the Student Center and the Student Recreation Center accepting donations. We will be set up from 7:30am to 5:00pm each day.
It's that simple, but it is unmeasureably appreciated! Nearly 1,400 homes and 35,000 acres have been lost due to the wildfires, and for each of those homes destroyed, there is a FAMILY in need. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the funds we raise will be collected together from each chapter and presented to the Bastrop county fire department in order to provide food, water, temporary shelter, and many more necessities needed by those families.
